Under the framework of the ILO/Riyadah project and in an effort to increase the KAB programme outreach, a second Training of Facilitators ‘workshop was conducted from 28 November to 10 December 2015. The workshop targeted 20 women TVTC teachers coming from 13 colleges across the Kingdom and was facilitated by the Senior Enterprise Specialist at ILO/RO-Beirut, Ms. Rania Bikhazi.

Throughout the workshop, the teacher were very committed and participated in the activities with a high level of interest and enthusiasm. They welcomed the participatory training techniques of the KAB programme and exerted every effort to display them in their micro teaching sessions. They also appreciated in the games which they found very relevant, and appropriate for students to learn the programme content.

Participants created a group on whatsapp to remain in touch and exchange information and ideas among each other. They have all started teaching the KAB programme and are expected to reunite in a 4 days refresher workshop once they complete the delivery of the first four modules of KAB.

Under the framework of the ILO/Riyadah project and to begin roll-out of the KAB programme at the Technical Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) Women Section institutes across the Kingdom, a Training of Facilitators workshop was undertaken from March 28-April 9, 2015 in Riyadh.The project aims to foster an entrepreneurship culture among Saudi nationals and encourage self-employment as a potential career option Saudi youth.

The trainees were 33 women teachers representing 17 colleges under the TVTC across the Kingdom. Implementation of the KAB programme will start immediately in some colleges (Al Hissa, Tabuk, Breida and Riyadh), while others will start implementation after Ramadan (end of July 2015). Participants were enthusiastic regarding the KAB programme objectives and will report back to the ILO on successes and challenges faced during implementation with their students.

Under the framework of the ILO KAB project with the Development and Employment Fund and the Vocational Training Corporation, a KAB Training of Facilitators' workshop was conducted over a period of 12 days from 16-28 March 2013 at Ein El Basha Vocational Training Institute 20 km from Amman. It was facilitated by the two KAB Regional Key Facilitators, Mr. Wael Ghosn and Mr. Samih Jaber.

The opening session was attended by Mr. Hani Khleifat, Assistant General Director for Training at the VTC, Ms. Ghada Al Fayez, Training Officer at DEF and the Enterprise Development Specialist at ILO-RO Beirut.

The TOF workshop was attended by 30 participants (22 men and 8 women) from VTC and DEF distributed as follows:

  • 27 participants from VTC (23 teachers, 4 supervisors and the programme coordinator at VTC)
  • 3 participants from DEF (2 teachers/trainers and the programme coordinator at DEF)

The Enterprise Development Specialist delivered a session on the KAB implementation in the Arab Region, the modality of implementation and the certification process.

At the end of the workshop, participants received a KAB attendance certificate.

The Know About Business programme is coming to 5 new secondary schools in Vientiane, the capital of Laos in the 2012-2013 school year.
