Uganda - Youth Entrenet

The first training of Facilitators, Trainers and Promoters was carried out in 2003 in Kampala, with 20 participants from 16 institutions including public and private vocational education and training institutions, ministries, and universities. After the orientation of the KAB Key Facilitators, participants began to promote entrepreneurship education within their organizations through awareness raising workshops, reviewing their  existing curriculum, trained more Facilitators, Trainers and Promoters in KAB,  developed training proposals, among other things.

An assessment conducted by the ILO in 2006 found that a few of the institutions who participated in the first training, had undergone significant changes in their style and methodology of training and education, either by integrating some KAB modules to their existing curriculum, or by developing a new entrepreneurship curriculum inspired by KAB. To name a few in particular: Kyambogo University, Lugogo VTI, Nakawa Training Institute and Jinja VTI, among organizations of the civil society  like Uganda School for the Deaf, National Organisation of Trade Unions - NOTU and Company of Works Association - COWA.

The assessment noted that some institutions had begun implementing KAB materials directly into their courses,  particularly Bulo Parents S.S., and around 20 institutions under the Uganda Association of Private Vocational Institutions (UGAPRIVI). The participants from many of these institutions trained other staff members to promote and teach KAB. Finally, in 2006, the governmental institution Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT), which supervises four public vocational training institutes, took steps towards the integration of contents on entrepreneurship skills into the curriculum.
