Oman - Youth Entrenet
Oman

Oman

In Oman, KAB was first introduced in 2007, as the government gave priority to entrepreneurship training and prepared its youth to be more enterprising in their lives and in their careers. Initially, national capacity to deliver the programme was to be increased by training Omani professionals to teach and promote KAB. Consequently, three training workshops were conducted in 2007 which approximately 50 Facilitators and Promoters were trained. The attendees were among those working in Higher College of Technology (HCT) and 14 Directors and Facilitators from 4 vocational training centres under the Ministry of Manpower. That same year, the ILO International Training Centre (ITC-ILO) in Turin, 5 Oman-based facilitators and promoters from the Ministry of Manpower and the Oman Tourism College were trained.

The KAB programme was pilot tested in participating institutions in the 2007-2008 school year. 4 vocational schools used the Arabic version of KAB and the Higher College of Technology (HCT) used the English version. In 2008, another officer from the Ministry of Manpower was trained at the annual workshop at the ITC-ILO and a refresher workshop was carried out in April 2009 for KAB Facilitators and Promoters. An evaluation of the KAB experience in Oman is being planned, as well as another refresher workshop for November 2009.
