Work Improvement in Small Enterprises (WISE) is an innovative approach to improving working conditions and productivity in small and medium-sized enterprises around the world. It is a process in which entrepreneurs and managers are empowered and supported to address working conditions issues through the identification, sharing and implementation of local and affordable good practices.

The WISE workshop was conducted in Amman from 1 till 5 December 2013. Fifteen participants attended the workshop, eight from Lebanon and seven from Jordan. The participants consisted of trainers and consultants from different firms of the Lebanese and Jordanian private sectors; as well as representatives from the Lebanese Ministry of Industry, the Industrial Research Institute and ELCIM; and the Jordanian Chambers of Industry.

The workshop was focused on the introduction of the WISE methodology and approach in an effort to provide the participants with an understanding of what the WISE package is exactly, and what their role will be in terms of the WISE program.

At the end of the workshop, during each of the presentations conducted by the participants, members of the training team joined by a member of the ILO evaluated each participant individually, based on specific criteria that were made clear to the participants prior to the presentations.
